Grade 6

On the 13th of February, all of the grade sixes went to Chinatown. We went by bus and it took about 20-30 minutes.

First, we went to the Chinese museum. Our tour guides name was Ms Fan. We had to climb up a flight of stairs to get to the first floor where Ms Fan gave us a talk about the Chinese history and the gold rush. She also talked about Chinese traditions, including how females would bind their feet to keep them small. Then we went up another bunch of stairs to get up to the next floor, where we were talked to about the Chinese people’s first job when coming to Australia. She also talked about the Chinese New Year dragon. It needs about 100 people to carry it! Chinese history is very intriguing and interesting and I hope I can learn more about it.

After the Chinese museum, we had a tour around Chinatown. We learnt that the oldest building in Chinatown is about 2 centuries old. We went into a grocery store and we saw all the Chinese food people eat. Ms Fan bought 6B fortune cookies. They were delicious. We saw how dumplings were made. It looked great.

Lastly, we hopped onto the bus and we went to a beautiful park, which was about a 5-10-minute drive. We ate our lunch there and we had about 20 minutes to play on the playground. I had an exhausting but great day.
